Deb White spent 40 years teaching math in California community colleges. Now she tutors privately, online, one student at a time — Statistics, Algebra, Geometry, and everything from arithmetic on up.

M.A. Statistics
From Stanford University
Most tutoring options ask you to choose between a big-name learning center and an unknown freelancer. Deb is neither. She holds a B.A. from Swarthmore and an M.A. in Statistics from Stanford, and she taught math for forty years — arithmetic through statistics, with Statistics every single semester — before retiring to do the part she loved most: working with one student at a time.
That means every session is taught by the expert herself. Not a rotating staff. Not a high-schooler a few chapters ahead. Just four decades of knowing exactly where students get stuck and how to get them unstuck.
| With Deb | Typical learning center |
|---|---|
| The whole hour is yours, one-on-one | One tutor split across 3–4 students |
| Taught by a 40-year career instructor | Variable staff, often students themselves |
| The same tutor who knows your history every time | You may not see the same person twice |
| A plan shaped around your gaps | A standardized national curriculum |
| Simple, transparent pricing. No contracts. | Rates revealed in a sales meeting |

In Deb's words
You don’t learn math from lectures and videos. You’re shown a worked-out example, then handed a similar problem to solve yourself. You follow the model, adapt it, and keep going until your problem comes out right — and now it’s yours. That’s the method I bring to every session.
I start by finding the gap. Almost every student who’s struggling missed something earlier, and once we find it, today’s lesson tends to fall into place. I’ll never make you feel foolish for not knowing something — mistakes are how learning actually works, and that’s where we begin.

“Math is not a spectator sport. Every student who’s struggling missed something earlier — once we find it, the rest tends to fall into place.”
